The Witcher: Blood Origin looks monstrous

While waiting for season 3 of The Witcher, the universe offers itself a monstrous spin-off.

While Geralt De Riv is long overdue, The Witcher universe returns to Netflix for the end of the year. The writings of Andrzej Sapkowski are again adapted by the streaming platform. This time, the red N takes even more liberties since it explores a period simply mentioned in the writings of the Polish author.

No playful witchers and bards this time around, it will be about exploring the creation of the exploited world in the parent series. Blood Origin will return…. at the origins. 1200 years before the birth of the character portrayed by Henry Cavill, this first live-action spin-off will tell how the worlds of monsters, men and elves have merged into one. The conjunction of the spheres, discussed in season 2 of The Witcher, will thus reveal all its secrets. We should come across creatures as frightening as they are fascinating, in the pure tradition of The Witcher.

The new series will take a fresh look at the universe. We will discover new characters, portrayed by renowned actors. This is especially true for Michelle Yeoh, who is definitely having a great year. After creating the event with Everything Everywhere All at Once, the actress made her first foray into Netflix. He will play here an elf called Scian. She will have a crucial role in the story. At his side, we will find Lenny Henry in the role of Balor. After having made a passage in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the British actor continues to flourish in fantasy. Jacob Collis-Levy and Laurence O’Fuarain complete the list of actors in the casting of this new series.

Behind the scenes, too, it is on a new team that it will be necessary to count. After writing several episodes of The Witcher, Declan De Barra landed the role of showrunner. He nevertheless works in close collaboration with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The creator of The Witcher is not very far since she acts as executive producer. The production of this series was entrusted to Sarah O’Gorman and Vicky Jewson. The two filmmakers will be behind the camera for this event. Because The Witcher: Blood Origin will not be a series strictly speaking.

A magical interlude


The production will span 4 episodes and is not intended to be renewed. Like Le Cauchemar du Loup, it is only a spin-off production aimed at providing crucial information for the rest of the adventures of Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer.

This is also the perfect opportunity for fans to wait until season 3 of The Witcher. It should be broadcast next summer and will sign the last appearance of Henry Cavill in the skin of the character. The actor will hang up his sword to devote himself to other projects. He will, among other things, return to the skin of Superman for DC. After several years of absence, Clark Kent returns to the front of the stage within a cinematographic universe in full mutation with the arrival of James Gunn at the controls.

Cavill must thus give way to Liam Hemsworth. The actor revealed in Hunger Games will take up the torch. However, this announcement was not unanimous among early fans, for whom Geralt de Riv now goes hand in hand with Henry Cavill.
