Apple TV + signs several movies and series deal with Leonardo DiCaprio

Through his production company Appian Way, the American actor has signed a juicy agreement with the new SVoD platform of the apple brand.

Decidedly lately, the actor-producers have the wind in their sails. While Jordan Peele and his company Monkeypaw have signed a five-time exclusive deal with Universal Pictures, Aggregate Picture, Jason Bateman‘s company has signed a deal with Netflix, which is already producing its hit series Ozark. It would seem that it’s Leonardo DiCaprio‘s turn to join the battle by entering the giant apple’s house.

In the war of streaming platforms, Apple TV +, launched in the United States in November 2019, has indeed just offered itself a contract of choice to expand its catalog of original content. The Appian Ways company, created by the Titanic actor in 2004, has just signed the precious “first-look deal” with the Apple brand. Does this mean that the actor will no longer be seen elsewhere? Nothing is less sure…

In Hollywood, it is very common for such agreements to be signed between a distributor and an actor, producer or director. Before signing with Apple, Appian Ways came out of a three-year contract with Paramount, and before that it was with Warner Bros. Studios. that she had bonded. This type of exclusivity contract usually stipulates that any creation of the production company must be shown first to the distributor with which it is engaged. If she refuses to take on the project, the producer is free to go and show it elsewhere – even if, let’s face it, that doesn’t happen very often.

Likewise, it is the production company that has just signed the agreement and not the actor himself. It will therefore not completely disappear from cinema screens; he is free to act in certain films which he is not also responsible for producing via Appian Ways.
