Michael Keaton to don Batman costume in The Flash

After months of rumors, the actor’s participation was confirmed by his agency. The filming of the film was launched yesterday.

It’s official, the iconic Batman from Tim Burton’s films will make his comeback as the Dark Knight. As he recently expressed his doubts about playing Bruce Wayne again, Michael Keaton has just confirmed that he will be a cast member of The Flash. Last January, in an interview with Deadline, the actor said he was reluctant to go to film sets because of the pandemic. “To be honest with you, what worries me above all else is COVID. I keep an eye on the pandemic situation in Great Britain. That’s what will determine my participation. This is the reason why I live out of town, staying away from everyone else, because the COVID issue really concerns me. So that’s the first thing I take into account about all of my projects ”. The clear improvement in the situation across the Channel will therefore have convinced Michael Keaton to re-emerge, as confirmed by his agency. As a reminder, Michael Keaton has played Batman twice under the leadership of Tim Burton, the first in 1989 and then in 1992 in Batman: The Challenge.

Two Batmans for the price of one

Keaton won’t be the only one making his comeback in the DC Cinematic Universe, by the way. Although he had announced that he had hung up the costume, Ben Affleck will finally be back as Batman. He should therefore give the reply to his predecessor. But by what miracle will Andy Muschietti’s film succeed in reuniting two Batmans? The Multiverse of course! Like his alter-ego on the small screen, Barry Allen’s Ezra Miller is set to open a path to parallel universes with his super speed. Plot details are still under wraps, however, but the film will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in the DCEU but could also impact the CW’s Arrow Verse. The two characters played by Ezra Miller and Grant Gustin have already met in The Flash,Crisis on Infinite Earths‘s latest crossover.
